Bill C-318 comes to an end

Without a royal recommendation from the Trudeau government, Bill C-318 came to the end of its legislative journey yesterday.

Canada’s current parental leave system continues to rob adoptive and intended parents from time that is needed to care for their child, to bond and to form healthy attachments. Sadly, it is the children who need that time with their parents that continue to suffer the greatest loss.

While the Liberal government did not allow Bill C-318 to pass, I remain committed to holding them to account for their promises to Canadians and to ensuring that adoptive and intended parents get the time they need and deserve with their children.

I am profoundly grateful to each and every person who has supported Bill C-318 along the way – thank you.
