Municipalities are struggling with increased policing costs

Despite their exclusion from the bargaining process, municipalities are facing a significant cost for RCMP services following the collective agreement negotiated between the Government of Canada and the National Police Federation last summer.
These costs are much higher than anticipated and are a big hit to small municipalities. Ultimately resulting in less essential services or higher taxes. I’ve previously asked the Minister of Public Safety to work with municipalities to find a solution and today I proposed a solution. Unfortunately, the Minister again failed to offer a concrete solution.
