Municipalities and provinces weren’t at the negotiating table when this Liberal government negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement with the National Police Federation, but they are responsible for the majority of costs.
Today, I asked the Prime Minister if his budget would contain some relief for municipalities like ours, who have been desperately asking for assistance with the one-time backpay costs. His response that municipalities and provinces were at the table is completely false and offers no reassurances.
